Werner’s first and foremost concern has always been, and remains, the safety and wellbeing of our associates, drivers, and customers. Werner has had an existing Pandemic plan since 2009 when the H1N1 outbreak occurred. We are well-prepared throughout our network.
As the current spread of the Coronavirus is continually evolving, Werner will provide associates and professional drivers with ongoing education and advice from public health agencies and local authorities as updated information becomes available. We will continue to monitor and provide updates on company policies and plan implementations as they become necessary and continue to be flexible with our associates. Diversity in communication outlets ensures that important updates will be available to all associates and professional drivers.
To protect Werner associates, professional drivers, and customers from the spread of this virus we have implemented heightened cleaning measures and are strategically placing additional hand sanitizer dispensers throughout all facilities. We are continually monitoring our facilities and enhancing cleaning procedures as necessary to limit the spread of illness.
In consideration of the interests of our customers, we are ensuring that business continuity remains top of mind. Our plan has been tested and we’re ready. Within this plan Werner is:
- Educating associates, both in our facilities and over-the-road, about the importance of proper respiratory etiquette, how to protect themselves from the spread, and how to protect each other
- Following the recommendations from the CDC with regard to quarantine guidelines as it relates to:
- travel back to the U.S.
- social distancing
- contact with those diagnosed with coronavirus
Our forward-thinking and strategic planning have positioned us well for this type of event. Tested plans are being implemented, communication is ongoing, and the interest of our associates, professional drivers, and customers will remain our focus.
